Call for applications 15 October \u2013 15 November 2020: Assessing the effectiveness of the new funding model<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Finnish Research Impact Foundation is announcing a new call for proposals for the assessment of the impact and effectiveness of the FRIF Tandem Industry Academia funding programme. The research team selected to undertake the assessment will intensively examine FRIF-funded research projects with a view to better understanding the processes, dynamics of cooperation, and effectiveness of public-private partnership projects. At the same time, the team shall assess the FRIF funding model from the vantage point of the projects funded.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ultimate indicator of the effectiveness of the Finnish Research Impact Foundation and its work is the impact<\/a> of the research it supports, especially in relation to industry-academia cooperation. It is important to monitor and evaluate activities aimed at generating impact so that funding models can be developed for maximum effectiveness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It can take a long time for impacts to emerge and become apparent. FRIF is looking to launch a project that will study the processes and challenges of cooperation and collaboration brought about through its research funding and on this basis to generate data that will help to evaluate and develop the Foundation\u2019s existing funding model. A further objective is to provide an informed assessment of the future impact of FRIF-funded projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The research project funded under this call is scheduled to run for around two and a half years from 1 January 2021 to 30 June 2023. It will selectively monitor the lifespan of joint research projects funded by the Foundation and produce predictive data about outcomes that are expected to materialize later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The overall project budget (including possible overheads) shall not exceed 250,000 euros divided over a period of three calendar years, so that the research team can monitor the projects in focus throughout their lifespan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Background on FRIF\u2019s mission and funding<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The mission of the Finnish Research Impact Foundation, as set out in its rules, is to \u201csupport universities\u2019 and research institutes\u2019 research flagships and to strengthen public-private partnerships in research excellence. In pursuing this mission the Foundation\u2019s aim is to strengthen the links of higher education and research with business and industry and so to establish a stronger platform for Finnish know-how and renewal in the long term\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
